Interview advice is everywhere, but few offer the unfiltered truth. After years of interviewing, being interviewed, and coaching others, I’ve learned that success comes down to three fundamentals.
First, know how to tell your story — practice it until it’s second nature, structure it clearly, and focus on what you’ve done, not what you might do. Second, apply the “dumb-ass test” to your questions — if they sound self-serving, don’t ask them. Instead, craft thoughtful questions that demonstrate insight, curiosity, and alignment with the organization’s goals, such as how success is measured in the first year or how the role fosters collaboration.
Ultimately, mastering an interview isn’t about rehearsed answers; it’s about authenticity, preparation, and professionalism. Tell your story with confidence, ask intelligent questions, and you’ll stand out every time. You can check out my original post here.
