Restaurant Interior Designer

A long term client of ours has recently opened a Restaurant Interior Designer opportunity for a new restaurant studio the firm has started.This busy and growing studio needs a strong designer, doer who can quickly evaluate, select, perform, and manage multiple restaurant projects both domestically and internationally.

The right candidate will bring a strong work ethic and a strong taste level to this job.To succeed in this role the right candidate will be detail oriented and bring a strong pride in their work and ownership of each project.They must be a seasoned problem solver and be able to solve both design and technical issues as they arise.

Required Work Experience:

  • Prepares preliminary design concepts and alternatives for review by senior management
  • Leads the selection of FF&E materials, space planning and programming for design projects
  • Prepares drawings and documentation for schematic design, design development and construction documents, and FF&E specification phases
  • Leads design efforts and coordination with consultants throughout the design process
  • Accomplished understanding and display of design principles and theory
  • Skillful in all areas of design of restaurant design, planning, lighting, and operations
  • Displays strong creative interior design skills including concept development and hand sketching
  • Exercises creative judgment and design application skills in preparing client presentation materials including:
    • graphic sketches
    • renderings
    • graphics and selection of colors
    • materials, finishes and furniture
  • Experienced in all phases and aspects of the design process including predesign, design documentation, FF&E specifications, construction administration and procurement
  • Advanced understanding of color, materials and finishes

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in custom, creative restaurant design
  • Current registration with NCIDQ or state architectural licensing board strongly preferred
  • Experience with LEED® projects, LEED® AP certification preferred
  • Knowledge of construction materials, Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FF&E) specifications/ providers, particularly as applicable to restaurant design
