Featured Job: Principal Architect in Charlotte, NC
Job Description
DBI has been retained by a global, multi-specialty firm to identify and help hire a Studio Lead to manage the firm’s regional Commercial/Corporate/Civic practice. The role will be based in Charlotte, North Carolina and will play a leadership role in the office and interact with the larger firm.
The right candidate will focus on client business development and will bring a strong passion for design and use this as the foundation for their approach to their studio. Other duties will include providing creative solutions and designs for the local market. This role will manage and nurture project team members in the delivery of successful and profitable projects.
Required Work Experience:
- A strong architecture client portfolio is desired along with an ability to market and secure relevant clients
- Previous experience as a leader in the Civic, Commercial, and Corporate market sector
- Strong Business Development skills that include participation in the larger local industry
- Experience and understanding of the metrics and planning of space
- Exposure to new and cutting edge workplace design and trends
- Able to communicate with developers, clients and others involved in the design/development process
- The position has responsibility for five main areas of leadership: (1) Business Development, (2) Project Leadership, (3) People Management, (4) Operations, and (5) Strategy
- Team leadership skills
- Influencing and adapting skills, and knowing when one is needed over the other
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- 10+ years that include a blend of management, project management, design, and business development
- Architecture background. Also open to someone with a developer background
- Someone who can be self-motivated, self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity
- Able to lead, but also able to roll up their sleeves when the need arises
- Comfortable being the office information channel to other leaders and other offices
