I have been playing Sim City since I was in college.  My roommate had the game on his computer and I was in love after I created my first road.  Over the years Sim City has changed, improved and spun off entire worlds meeting the needs of the God complex in each of us.

New to me is Cities XL.  It is like The Sims and Sim City combined but turbo charges. It pushes the simulated city genre to the very boundaries of realistic game play.  Cities XL has an on-line game play feature that lets “mayors” connect with other cities on the “planet” or, if you are so inclined, populate your own planet.  Awesome!

Interactive play and total control over the people and commerce in your city is great but what I really enjoy in a game are eye popping graphics and Cities XL has them.  With rich, interactive 3-D views that let the player visit street level and even drive on the roads they have created, this game is a big leap forward. Just see for yourself.

The game will be released in early October and I am sure it will be on my birthday wish list.
