The Sr. Senior Housing Designer will work within this environment to drive the design, project management, and team leadership within the firm, focused in Senior Housing Projects. This position is for our client’s Portland Office. The Senior Housing Design Architect is primarily responsible for the development of site and building concepts for retirement communities of mixed uses and varying scales. This position requires working with clients and teams to master plan new suburban campuses, urban city blocks, and re-position existing retirement communities.

Required Work Experience:

  • Leading the development of the project program and building concepts
  • Effectively presenting work products at in house design and client meetings
  • Working with project teams to develop designs, produce construction documents, and benchmark results (Post Occupancy Evaluations)
  • Managing and organizing data collected both from clients, industry professionals, and research groups
  • Actively participating in development of publications and industry research and presenting those findings in-house
  • Effectively presenting at regional industry conferences (Leading Age, Assisted Living Federation of America, Environments for Aging, etc.)
  • Building a network of contacts in the industry and actively supporting business development

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive design and project management experience in the senior housing industry
  • Exposure to retirement community planning and operational design criteria
  • Bachelors Degree in Architecture
  • Excellent quantitative and analytic skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of 3-D modeling / rendering software, AutoCAD, and Revit
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A career-motivated professional who is energetic and possesses a superb work ethic and exhibits strong moral standards
  • A self-starter who is able to work well independently but can effectively communicate with the teams
  • Possesses a high level of self-confidence and an entrepreneurial spirit
