A small but growing hospitality design firm has engaged DBI to find an Associate Designer-Project Manager. This role will manage multiple design projects from concept through to construction. The right candidate will also bring an openness to influence the operations of this growing firm. For the right candidate, this is the role that takes them to their next level, or that allows for growth not being found in a larger firm.

Required Work Experience:

  • Design focused leadership as well as providing comprehensive project management
  • Reports directly to senior management and contributes to the general direction of the firm
  • Identifies studio project and staffing needs and assists in development of the firm
  • Supervises and mentors design staff and provides career development
  • Assists senior management in developing business proposals and contracts as required
  • Manages conceptual design direction for review by senior management and implementation by project teams
  • Oversees the selection of FF&E materials, space planning and programming developed by Senior Designer
  • Responsible for quality control for schematic design, design development and construction documents, and FF&E specification phases prepared by design teams
  • Maintains existing client contacts and actively builds new client contacts and industry relationships
  • Acts as client contact for project management and contractual related items
  • Leads client presentations and meetings with senior management, sometimes without
  • Participates in industry events, forums, and conferences as required

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor/ Master’s Degree from an accredited Interior Design/Architecture program
  • Degrees must come from a CIDA-accredited Interior Design program or NAAB-accredited Architecture program
  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience in broad range of hospitality and residential Interior Design
  • Current registration with NCIDQ or state architectural licensing board strongly preferred
  • Experience with LEED® projects, LEED® AP certification preferred
  • Expert knowledge of construction materials, Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FF&E) specifications/ providers, particularly as applicable to the hospitality industry
  • Broad experience with the entire project lifecycle, through post-occupancy
  • Experience leading, managing and mentoring multiple project teams
  • Experience maintaining and developing long lasting client relationships
